Spiced Pita Chips

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 whole-wheat pitas, cut into 1/8's

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine olive oil and all spices in a large bowl. Add pita wedges and toss to coat, Spread in 1 layer on a baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, tossing once, or until pita is brown and crisp. Cool completely before serving.

I made these yesterday and sorry to say it, but Rob didn't get any. He wasn't feeling very well after work (allergies have hit him hard the last couple days) and when he finally got up off the couch around 9:00 last night, he called me (I was out walking with a friend) and asked if there were any more pita chips...oops! Nope, I ate them all! I ate them with hummus. For those of you who haven't tried hummus....try it! I tried it for the first time last Thanksgiving and it is really good. I think I always associated it with haggis so I was always afraid to try it...hummus, haggis, both don't sound very appetizing! Trust me, you'll like hummus...sorry, can't testify in behalf of haggis. That's not something I will be trying! You can buy hummus in the deli section at the grocery store.

I've had hummus before and I don't remember it really tasting like anything...but I do remember a slightly different texture. why do they have to name things "hummus" or other strange names that already sort of make you scared to try it?
well...the chips look good! Maybe I'll try them out!

Love new recipes. I will definitely try this. Hummus is my fav! Trader Joe's cilantro lime. I guess I should say it's my "healthy" alternative. I would take sourcream and onion dip over hummus any day! :)
Thanks for sharing!

Love hummus so this will be so yummy. Casey doesnt like it so I will get it all to myself. Also love the tooth fairy story. One time the tooth fairy ran out of money at our house so we got cheetos instead. Can't complain I guess.

I've been wanting to make Hummus ever since Dave's Thanksgiving hummus.. I'll have to make some of the chips to go with.. yum.

There's a restaurant in SLC called Mazza that makes the very best Hummus I've ever tasted. I'm craving it now.

Glad to know my hummus had such a profound effect on people. I've still got plenty of tahini leftover, perhaps I should make some more one of these days. Here is the recipe for anyone who wants to try making it from scratch.
