Brynlee Got A Barbie

Many of you may know what that means....Brynlee stopped sucking her thumb! When Ashlee was 3, she wanted a Barbie so we told her she would get one if she stopped sucking her thumb. She stopped when she turned 4. So it's kinda been the thing you get if you stop sucking your thumb (BTW, I forced binkies with the boys and Landon's was gone when he was 15 months old...much easier!) I bought this Barbie before Brynlee's 3rd birthday (it's the birthday one and comes with the crown) because she said she was going to stop sucking her thumb when she was 3. Well, 3 turned to 4, then it was by the time the baby (Trevor) was born, then it was by Christmas, then it was when she turned 5. Last week I started asking her in the mornings if she sucked her thumb during the night and she would say no. I noticed she wasn't doing it during the day either. Then the other day she said "Do you know why I stopped sucking my thumb? Because the soap in the bathroom makes my thumb taste yucky." Evidently the Bath and Body Works Cherry Blossom Hand Soap that I put in the bathroom last week did the trick! I sure am glad she didn't figure out that she could just use another bathroom that had "normal" soap in it :)

Hi you guys! It is a small world! Chris grew up with Tiffany's Husband Roger in Snowflake Arizona. They were really good friends. I loved this story! My son Dawson is an avid thumbsucker and I keep worrying how we'll ever help him stop.I don't think I'll use a barbie though! If we get desperate I'll go buy some of that apple blossom soap!

I'm on my way to Bath and Body right now!!! You are so lucky, Morgan is still sucking her thumb like crazy. Tomorrow I'm going to cut the scarf off her stuffed dog and see if that works but she always manages to find something else to twist and suck!

My little Zac sucks on two fingers. I will have to remember this trick to get him to stop. The doctor told me not to do anything about it until he gets older.

Looks like I need to go shopping. Unfortunately he doesn't always wash his hands....It's worth a shot tho.

Bribery is not such a bad thing when it's used well. :) I consider us lucky because Ashtyn used to suck her first 2 fingers on her right hand but she stopped at about 18 mos when she got pneumonia & couldn't breathe through her nose and I guess by the time she could, she had forgotten about the fingers. :) That's funny that the soap is what did it. Now if only I could find a soap that would make Cole go potty in the toilet... :)

I must admit, none of my kids have sucked anything but a binkie and that stopped before they turned one. My prolem is getting Saydie to keep her hair done and leave her clothes on. Bribery, here we come!
