Magic Mouthwash
Ever heard of Magic Mouthwash?? I hadn't until the InstaCare doctor asked me if I wanted some to help with the pain. Um....sure? What is it? Is it a spray?? I really don't like sore throat sprays that numb your throat. He said he'd write me a prescription, but asked the nurse to whip some up for me to try before I filled the prescription in case I didn't like it. The nurse handed me the bottle and explained how to use it (gargle for 1-2 min or even swallow some to coat my throat). I tried some when I got home and ended up not filling the prescription. It ended up numbing my tongue and did nothing to help with the throat pain...maybe I needed to gargle better or swallow more...who knows...but I just hate that numb feeling. So what does Magic Mouthwash consist of??? A little Benedryl, some Maalox, a dab of Carafate, and Viscous Lidocaine...now I didn't write down the exact amounts so don't go trying to make this on your own! :)

When Luke got hand foot and mouth disease the nurse told me a recipe for a solution to put on the canker sores. They wouldn't prescribe the solution with the lidocaine in it. She called it the 3-2-1 solution. I think it's 3 parts benadryl 2 parts maalox and 1 part water (or switch the 3 and 2 parts around). Keep it refrigerated. It's supposed to sooth and dry up the canker sores. But that wouldn't help numb your sore throat. It did keep Luke's canker sores to a minimum by swabbing his gums with it. He got much fewer and less sever cankers than the kid I babysit who got it.
When I had Strep twice in a row last year I wanted to die, you sound like you're handling it better than me. You could drink your own urine! I don't know just thought I'd make you laugh!
Well, that sounds like quite the concoction! I hope it works for you, strep throat is nasty! I'd rather have a migraine than a sore throat. Feel better soon!!
I hate being sick. I hope you feel better soon. I guess it gives you an excuse to get a little pampering yourself.
Hmm, sounds a little shady! But it reminds me of that that spray that if you don't swallow it (which is not recommended) then your tongue is the only thing that gets hit! Maybe it was supposed to be psychological... like Monster spray or something.
Connie....no, I don't see her as much. She attends the stake where my ex lives...not quite ready to see him, so I guess I won't be seeing much of her ;)

what? I didn't know that doctors just whipped stuff up at the office nowadays...It kinda reminded me of the doctor on Pete's Dragon for some reason. I think not filling that prescription was the best choice you made all day!

Seeing as how I am a mommy and I know just EXACTLY how much a "little" and a "dab" are, you know I am TOTALLY going to be making this up! I will put on my fierce goggles, maybe spike my hair wild and crazy and if you are nice...you can enter my labratory. To sum it all up, Sounds a little fishy to me! Get better soon!
