As I was sitting here checking out blogs via Google Reader, I was listening to the conversation going on in the other room. I kept hearing the word "vote" so I kept listening. Yep, Ashlee and Brynlee are playing with Polly Pockets and evidently they are having an election. The Polly Pockets are voting between the Madame Alexander doll dressed as Mickey Mouse from a McDonald's Happy Meal and the Fisher Price doll house dad (apparently named James). The results: James won. I totally would have voted for Mickey...
On the way home from picking the kids up from school (I was a nice mommy and didn't make them walk home in the hail), I had this conversation with our neighbor, 7 year old Devin.
Devin: Did you vote?
Me: Yep
Devin: Well, who did you vote for? You better have voted for John McCain because if Barack Obama wins, all the black and brown people are going to be sent away and then my dad will be sent away because he's kinda brown.
Me: Sent away where and who in the world told you this?
Devin: If Barack Obama wins he's gonna send all the black and brown people away from here so he's the only one left.
Me: Who told you this?
Devin: Chris and Pearce.
Me: Well, Devin, I don't think that is going to happen. And by the way, your dad is not black or brown.
Devin: He's kinda brown, sometimes in the summer time.

i had to read that out loud to russ and we were both laughing! kids just say the funniest things. my boys think they are brown. i told them they are white or maybe peach, they looked at their arm and said "no, brown." too funny!
that's really funny. oh kids. I probably would have voted Mickey too, but I don't know, I'm sure James will do a good job. your girls are so hilarious.
Tyler has also been obsessed with the election. He wanted to stay up until the results were in. I think he made it until 9:00 and the announcement was made. Poor guy-he keeps saying there's no way Obama can be pres. because he's never shown his birth certificate (heard it at school from some adults). I told him I was pretty sure that was part of the application process to become pres. and that I don't think anyone would have overlooked it. Sorry!
Great, my husband is a gonner too! I still can't believe he won. I guess the end of the world is closer than we thought!
Kids are so funny! Nicole wanted to know who won too. She said she is not happy.
The Polly Pocket election is hilarious. Kids are so creative. :) There were rumors going around Ashtyn's school that if Obama won, he was going to take away all their video games. It makes you wonder how these things get started.
